Dr. Pirouz is a board-certified ophthalmologist with a subspecialty in the medical and surgical management of vitreoretinal diseases with particular emphasis on macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, complex retinal tears and detachments, floaters, ocular inflammation, macular holes, macular puckers, pediatric retinal diseases, retinopathy of prematurity, and inherited diseases of the retina.

Dr. Pirouz received his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with a special interest in molecular and cell biology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he graduated with the highest honor as a Summa Cum Laude. He then obtained his medical degree at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He then returned back home to California and completed his ophthalmology residency at the Gaven Herbert Eye Institute at the University of California, Irvine where he served as the chief resident. Dr. Pirouz then completed his subspecialty vitreoretinal fellowship at the Shiley Eye Center at the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. Pirouz has an extensive background in retinal research and has authored numerous papers in the peer-reviewed ophthalmology literature. Dr. Pirouz is the principal investigator of many landmark international clinical trials providing access to many cutting-edge therapeutic options to his patients suffering from various blinding diseases.

Dr. Pirouz is a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of societies including the American Society of Retina Specialists and Orange County Society of Ophthalmology. He holds hospital affiliations at many local facilities, including St. Jude Medical Center, Children Hospital Orange County (CHOC), Anaheim Memorial Regional Medical Center, and Los Alamitos Medical Center.

In his spare time, Dr. Pirouz enjoys spending time with his wife Shiva (a dentist) and three children. His favorite part of the day is reading bedtime stories to his kids!
