Dr. Glen Jarus is a Southern California native who grew up in Orange County and completed most of his graduate and postgraduate training in Los Angeles County. He received his Bachelors of Science in Biology with special interests in molecular biology and genetics from Loyola University of Los Angeles where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He completed his Medical training at USC and while there did a National Science Foundation fellowship in molecular biology at the University of California, Irvine. At USC, Dr. Jarus was inducted into the academic honor society Phi Kappa Phi. After completing his internship in Internal Medicine at USC – LA County Medical Center, he performed laboratory research funded by the National Eye Institute in macular degeneration and ocular trauma at the Doheny Eye Institute. Dr. Jarus then completed residency at USC Doheny Eye Institute. He completed his medical and surgical Vitreoretinal fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Institute at the University of Miami. He then returned to USC as faculty and the supervisor of the Ophthalmology residency program before entering private practice in1984 with offices in Whittier and West Covina.
Dr. Jarus is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Heed Fellow, and member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists. He has authored many scientific papers in peer reviewed journals and spoken at vitreoretinal conferences.
In his spare time Dr. Jarus enjoys time with his wife of 42 years Kathy, two children, their spouses and four grandchildren. His other interests include cycling, scuba diving, skiing, fishing, golfing, gardening and other outdoor activities.
Dr. Jarus sees patients in the Whittier and West Covina offices and has surgical privileges at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier.
